Frequently asked questions

Is my information private?

Yes. Personal information you enter into UnObey, including journal entries, OCD tracking records and psychological reflections, is stored locally within the application on your device.

We do not receive copies of your entries and cannot access them remotely.

For further information, please read our UnObey Privacy Policy: https://unobey-privacy.marcus-lewton.chatgpt.site

Do I need to create an account?

No. UnObey does not require an account, username or password to access its educational features.

Can my parents see what I write?

UnObey does not automatically share your personal entries with parents or carers.

However, someone with access to your device may potentially access locally stored information. The Parent Mode PIN is not an encrypted security system.

Can I share my journal entries with someone?

Yes. Where an export option is available, you can choose to save or share your information, including Track the Spike entries.

Nothing is automatically sent to another person.

What happens if I delete UnObey?

Deleting the application and its locally stored data may permanently remove your journal entries, reflections and progress.

We cannot recover deleted information because we do not store copies on our servers.

What if something isn’t working?

Try closing and reopening the application. If the problem continues, you can contact us using the support email above.

Please include your device model, operating system version and a brief description of the problem where possible.

Is UnObey a replacement for therapy?

No. UnObey provides psychoeducation, self-help activities and opportunities for reflection.

It does not provide individual clinical assessment, diagnosis, ongoing therapy or emergency mental-health monitoring.

It can be used alongside professional support where appropriate.

Guidance for parents and carers

UnObey includes a dedicated Parent Mode with information about intrusive thoughts, compulsions and ways of supporting young people.

The application is intended to encourage understanding and thoughtful conversations, rather than monitoring or controlling a teenager’s private experiences.

If you are concerned about your child’s mental health, please contact an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

Urgent help

UnObey is not an emergency service. Information entered into the application is not monitored by a clinician.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 in the UK or attend your nearest emergency department.

For urgent mental-health advice in Wales, call NHS 111 and press option 2.

You can also contact Childline on 0800 1111 for confidential support for children and young people in the UK.
